Chapter 21: It Has Been A Long Time; I Have Missed You Dearly
This was the fifth time Lin Xihe had come to see Yu Tingye, only to be turned away once again.
"Luoxue, why does Yu Tingye refuse to see me?" Lin Xihe asked.
Luoxue shook her head, indicating she did not know. Seeing the disappointment on Lin Xihe’s face, she pondered for a moment and said, "If you have any questions, you can ask me instead. I am familiar with most matters concerning Lord Tingye."
Lin Xihe subconsciously observed Luoxue. She was the very image of an ice beauty; while she appeared cold on the outside, she was surprisingly soft-hearted. Lin Xihe recalled that Luoxue was not a direct subordinate of the Demon Lord Wanjun, but had likely been promoted by Yu Tingye himself—a person who did not exist in her own memories.
"If it is inconvenient for you to speak of it, Miss Wan, then just pretend I never asked," Luoxue said, noticing Lin Xihe’s long silence and apparent hesitation.
Lin Xihe quickly waved her hand and smiled. "It’s not a problem at all. It’s just about Tang Xin’er. I wanted to know what happened to her..."
"Regarding Miss Xin’er, I can only tell you that she is now known as Yu Xin’er, and she is Lord Tingye’s younger sister," Luoxue replied. "Beyond that, I am afraid I cannot say."
*Yu Xin’er? A younger sister?* Lin Xihe wondered what game Yu Tingye was playing. Could he have tampered with Tang Xin’er’s memories? That had to be it; otherwise, there was no explanation for Tang Xin’er’s behavior.
"Thank you, Luoxue."
"You are welcome."
As they spoke, a sexy and gentle male voice drifted over: "Long time no see, beautiful Luoxue."
Lin Xihe, who had been standing with her back to him, turned slightly to look at the man. His appearance and stature were on par with Yu Tingye’s. He had short, black, jagged hair, and beneath his fine bangs were a pair of beautiful, deep purple eyes. He wore a well-fitted black coat that highlighted his perfect, slender physique. The collar was wide and currently slightly open, and the cuffs were partially unbuttoned, each embellished with a gorgeous, feather-shaped golden pattern.
The man was truly stunning. Yet, compared to Yu Tingye, there seemed to be something lacking, though she could not quite put her finger on what it was.
"Lord Tingye is not receiving guests these days," Luoxue said, rejecting him without hesitation.
"Who is he...?" Lin Xihe could not help but ask Luoxue.
Before Luoxue could answer, the man introduced himself to Lin Xihe. "Greetings, beauty. I am Yi Lanshu, a friend of Yu Tingye. Might I ask who you are...?"
Luoxue’s brow tightened. She stepped forward, shielding Lin Xihe, and warned Yi Lanshu, "She belongs to Lord Tingye. Do not be insolent."
"Yu Tingye’s woman," Yi Lanshu murmured with a meaningful smile.
"Leave," Luoxue said, her eyes filled with vigilance.
"Luoxue, you are still as heartless as ever."
Luoxue’s gaze grew colder. "I said leave!"
"Fine, fine, fine. I’m going, I’m going. Until next time, beauty."
Lin Xihe waved at him.
...
After leaving the Night Palace, Yi Lanshu reached a wall, unfurled the massive golden wings on his back, and flew up silently to locate where Yu Tingye was staying.
In a secret chamber, Yu Tingye seemed to sense his presence and opened his eyes.
"Ye."
Yi Lanshu’s voice came from outside. Yu Tingye immediately stood up, opened the chamber door, and stepped out.
Upon seeing Yu Tingye, Yi Lanshu moved in for an embrace. "It’s been so long. I’ve missed you dearly."
"Missed me?" Yu Tingye frowned and pushed him away. "You mean you’ve been dying to kill me."
