Lin Xihe sat in the soft chair, holding a large-bellied cup in her hands. She took a sip of water, glanced at the two kneeling figures, and took another sip. Shuang Yi and Shuang Yu exchanged a look on the floor. Shuang Yu whispered quietly to Shuang Yi, “Big sister, is she really the Demon Lord? She doesn’t look like it at all—more like a fool.” Shuang Yi nodded, signaling him to keep quiet.
“Achoo—” Lin Xihe suddenly sneezed inexplicably, rubbing her nose. Who was cursing her? Surely someone was cursing her?
“Are you cursing me?” Lin Xihe looked at Shuang Yu and casually asked. Shuang Yu was stunned—she knew everything. Shuang Yi quickly replied, “The Demon Lord must be mistaken. My brother would never dare to slander the Demon Lord, even if he were given ten times the courage.”
Lin Xihe responded with an “Oh,” then said, “Good that there was no cursing. Stand up and speak.” The two rose to their feet. Lin Xihe stood up from the chair and asked conversationally, “Why did you two want to meet Yu Tingye? Is there something you need?”
Shuang Yu hurriedly answered, “It’s not me who wants to see him—it’s my big sister who insisted.” Lin Xihe turned her gaze toward Shuang Yi. Shuang Yi lowered his head. “I’m sorry, Demon Lord, about last time...”

Lin Xihe interrupted, “Last time? Oh, you mean when you sold me out? It’s fine, really. For the sake of your face, I forgive you—but there must not be a next time.” Shuang Yi quickly assured her, “There won’t be a next time, I swear.” Lin Xihe smiled, “No need to swear. Now, tell me, why have you come to find Yu Tingye this time?”
Shuang Yi explained their predicament. Lin Xihe continued, “So, you came to Yu Tingye seeking protection.” Shuang Yi nodded. Lin Xihe considered for a moment. “Here’s what we’ll do: you go back for now. Yu Tingye hasn’t been in a good mood these past few days. When he’s feeling better, I’ll come find you and bring you to see him.” Shuang Yi was deeply grateful. “Thank you, Demon Lord.”
“Just call me Lin Xihe from now on. Oh, and leave your address so I can find you easily.” “Alright.”
—
Back at their residence, Shuang Yu still looked puzzled. “Big sister, isn’t the Demon Lord a bit too kind? Could there be some hidden scheme?” “Don’t talk nonsense.” “But rumors say otherwise.” “Seeing is believing.”

Shuang Yi said, transforming into the form of a tiger—a small, adorable white tiger. It paced once around the table and then returned to human form. “Yu, we are truly too weak. We need Lord Tingye’s protection; otherwise, it’s hard for us to survive in the demon realm.” Shuang Yu snorted, “Who needs his protection? I can protect big sister, I...” His voice trailed off. Shuang Yi smiled and patted his head.

Lin Xihe never imagined that one day, she would chat and laugh with Tang Xin’er. “Sister-in-law, you’re really beautiful. You and my brother are such a perfect match.” After speaking, Tang Xin’er glanced at the maid beside her. “Right, Hua Wu?” Hua Wu nodded and gave an awkward smile. Lin Xihe called Hua Wu aside, whispering, “What’s going on with her?” Hua Wu looked just as confused. “I don’t know either. When the master woke up, she was like this.”
Tang Xin’er approached. “What are you two talking about?” Lin Xihe replied, “Nothing.” Then she took Tang Xin’er’s hand and asked with concern, “Are you feeling alright? Any discomfort?” Tang Xin’er shook her head, “I’m fine, no discomfort at all.” Lin Xihe thought for a moment—this matter definitely needed to be discussed with Yu Tingye.
