Chapter 85: Deep Schemes [4]
If it were any other man, seeing Jiang Lei’er in such a delicate, alluring state and hearing her say such things, he would have caught on long ago. But Yan Yu—was he an ordinary man? No, he was the very definition of a steel-hearted, oblivious man!
“Whatever you need, just say it here,” Yan Yu insisted, refusing to budge.
“Here?” Jiang Lei’er said shyly, “It’s not convenient…”
“Not convenient…” Yan Yu pondered, lowering his head. “Then shall we step outside to talk?”
“Is there something in your room that you don’t want me to see?” Jiang Lei’er pressed, unwilling to give up.
Yan Yu narrowed his eyes. “Jiang Lei’er, you’re so eager to get into my room—is it because…”
Jiang Lei’er’s heart leapt; she thought Yan Yu was finally catching on. But then he continued, “Is it because you want to swap rooms with me?”
“Huh?” Jiang Lei’er was stunned.
Yan Yu burst into laughter, effortlessly pushing Jiang Lei’er into the room. Without waiting for her response, he swapped their key cards, grabbed his luggage, and headed out: “You should’ve said so earlier! I’m a generous guy, I don’t mind this sort of thing. No need to feel embarrassed—get some rest!”
With that, Yan Yu closed the door behind him.
Jiang Lei’er stood dumbfounded in the room, staring at the locked door.
Suddenly, her expression changed. Before knocking, she had secretly tampered with the door—once it closed, it could only be opened from the outside. This was to prevent Yan Yu from escaping!
According to her original plan, Jiang Lei’er would seduce Yan Yu, and once things progressed far enough, Ren Yuheng and Su Wentao would come in and catch him in the act. Then Jiang Lei’er would turn the tables, accusing Yan Yu of coveting her beauty, dragging her into the room, and attempting something improper.
If the plan succeeded, the Su family would surely act to preserve their reputation, and Yan Yu would be expelled from the Su residence.
But the scheme had collapsed halfway through…
Jiang Lei’er gazed at the locked door, a wave of despair washing over her. She hadn’t even brought her phone—there was no way to notify Ren Yuheng and the others now!
“Yan Yu!!” Jiang Lei’er stamped her feet in frustration, gritting her teeth, but there was nothing she could do.
Soon, she calmed herself, carefully analyzing the situation. She realized Yan Yu was no simple man.
“He seems straightforward, but actually he’s highly guarded and indifferent to women. Looks like he’s fooled everyone… This Yan Yu is deep indeed!”
“Achoo!”
Yan Yu sneezed, muttering to himself, “Lucheng’s weather is colder than Rongcheng’s—I’m coming down with something… Still, Jiang Lei’er came at just the right time; her room’s bathroom surely isn’t broken.”
If Jiang Lei’er knew the real reason Yan Yu swapped rooms with her was just because his bathroom was broken, she’d probably cough up blood in rage.
Yan Yu wandered the corridor with his new key card, only to find himself utterly lost.
He wasn’t normally directionally challenged, but he was unfamiliar with the layout here. He wandered for ages yet failed to find Jiang Lei’er’s room—or even the bathroom.
Now, feeling as though his bladder might burst at any moment, he had no choice but to knock on a nearby guest room, hoping someone could help.
Soon, the door opened, and the person inside took Yan Yu by surprise.
“Yang Xuefei?!”
“Yan Yu?!”
Yang Xuefei couldn’t help but ask, “What are you doing here?”
“I was about to ask you the same thing!”
“I came to attend Old Master Su’s birthday banquet.”
“So did I…”
The two exchanged glances, then burst out laughing—it was a small world, after all.
Still, Yang Xuefei found it odd that Yan Yu was somehow connected to the Su family.
“Uh, I really need to use the bathroom—can I borrow yours?” Yan Yu asked sheepishly.
Yan Yu was quite familiar with Su Manor in Lucheng, so Yang Xuefei nodded, “Go ahead.”
“Thank you.”
Yan Yu blushed, heading straight for the bathroom, while Yang Xuefei waited by the door.
Once inside, Yan Yu relieved himself, feeling instantly refreshed and relaxed.
Returning from the bathroom, Yan Yu smiled apologetically. “I think I got lost—I can’t find my room.”
“The room number should be on your card. Let me see… Your room’s just around the corner, third door down.”
Yan Yu took back his card, grateful. “Lucky I ran into you, or I’d have ended up sleeping on a bench tonight.”
Yang Xuefei laughed behind her hand. “Isn’t there still Butler Mo?”
“I won’t keep you any longer—have a good rest.”
Just as Yan Yu was about to leave, footsteps echoed in the corridor, and Su Wentao’s voice rang out, “No wonder Yuheng is so respected—this time Yan Yu’s reputation is ruined for sure!”
“We’re just looking out for Su Han.”
Yan Yu, about to step out, quickly withdrew, turning back and leaving the door barely ajar.
Yang Xuefei was startled. “What are you doing?”
“Shh… Listen, I think someone’s plotting against me.”
Yang Xuefei calmed herself and, together with Yan Yu, hid behind the door to eavesdrop.
They heard Su Wentao say as he walked, “I’ll record a video on my phone, get Yan Yu’s face—he won’t be able to deny it this time!”
“Try not to get Jiang Lei’er’s face—she still needs to be my secretary.”
At this, Yan Yu instantly understood what was happening.
“Those two are setting me up!” Yan Yu cursed under his breath. “Good thing I was clever and didn’t fall for their trap!”
If Jiang Lei’er were here, she’d surely roll her eyes: Clever? You’re just a steel-hearted fool!
Yang Xuefei peeked outside and was surprised. “Su Wentao’s behind this? Who’s that with him? I’ve never seen Su Wentao show so much respect to anyone.”
“Ren Yuheng, from the Ren family of Shencheng,” Yan Yu replied casually.
“You have issues with the Ren family? No wonder you asked me earlier if anyone in Rongcheng was named Ren…” Yang Xuefei mused.
Yan Yu shook his head. “The only issue I have with him is that I’m better looking.”
Yang Xuefei was left speechless.
With others so blatantly intent on ruining his reputation, how could Yan Yu simply endure? His eyes flashed mischievously as he said, “Feifei, come on—let’s go enjoy the show.”
Yang Xuefei blinked, knowing full well that a spectacular scene was about to unfold, and couldn’t resist following him.
Yan Yu and Yang Xuefei quietly trailed Ren Yuheng and Su Wentao, hiding at the corner of the corridor. Su Wentao took out his phone, grinning slyly. “Once we catch him red-handed, let’s see Yan Yu try and talk his way out of it!”
“Open the door!” Ren Yuheng stepped forward, pounding on the door.
The soundproofing in the guest rooms was excellent; though Jiang Lei’er responded from inside, nothing could be heard from the outside. Ren Yuheng and Su Wentao exchanged a glance, then kicked the door open together.
Inside, Jiang Lei’er sat gloomily on the sofa.
“Where is he?” Ren Yuheng and Su Wentao were dumbfounded.
Jiang Lei’er, face cold, said, “Young master, that Yan Yu is no simple man. He saw through my beauty trap and locked me in the room!”
