The chubby one and his friends didn’t dare stay with this so-called Professor Yang any longer, so they hurried out of the office as if fleeing for their lives, with Yan Yu and a group of parents following close behind.

Once outside, the chubby one immediately grabbed Yan Yu’s arm and whispered, “Boss, Teacher Su always seemed so approachable—why would she stab us in the back like this?”

“If it’s just about going to an internet café, Teacher Su wouldn’t go this far. Unless, Boss, you did something terrible to her?” Hao Zhuang suspected.

Yan Yu was both amused and exasperated, about to reply, when suddenly a burly figure appeared before them. The man barked, “No groups of three allowed here. No whispering. Otherwise, you’ll all be sent straight to Room Thirteen!”

At the mention of Room Thirteen, the three immediately fell silent. Yan Yu quickly said, “Um… we’re new here, so we don’t know the rules yet. May I ask who you are?”

“My name is Strict, and I’m the chief instructor here!” the man replied in a deep voice.

The instructor’s reputation was second only to Yang Yongsheng’s. In Feng Liang’s memory, this instructor was notorious for sending students to Room Thirteen over the smallest infractions.

“Since you’re new, there are many rules you must learn, but I won’t bother explaining them now. You’ll understand in time…” The instructor’s smile was twisted. “The most important rule is this: Every window in your dorm has a talisman stuck to it. If anyone so much as touches one, be ready to spend an entire day in Room Thirteen!”

Yan Yu frowned.

So this was why no one dared touch the talismans. No wonder not even Feng Liang could break into the Internet Addiction Center.

“Now, the three of you come with me to collect your personal items and get assigned to your dorm.”

Following behind the instructor, Yan Yu and his friends handed over all their belongings. The chubby one was heartbroken to part with his entire backpack full of snacks, while Yan Yu managed to cleverly avoid inspection and kept a few talismans.

They received two sets of clothes apiece, along with towels, toothbrushes, and other personal items. From that moment on, all three couldn’t help but feel as if they’d been imprisoned.

They were assigned to a dormitory on the fifth floor, where one bed was already occupied, though its owner seemed to have been gone for quite some time.

As soon as the instructor left, the chubby one hurried to the window, attempting to figure out an escape route, but found the window sealed tight—escape was impossible.

“Boss… what is this place?” Hao Zhuang moaned. “Something’s not right. My parents would never have agreed to send me here.”

The chubby one chimed in, “That’s right, we have to find a way out. I don’t want to get electrocuted!”

Yan Yu reassured them, “Alright, alright. The reason you’re here is all part of my plan.”

“What?!” The two were stunned.

“You must be curious about who I really am, right? I transferred into Rongcheng First High School easily, I’m not afraid of Li Kang and his gang, and my relationship with Teacher Su is… complicated. Actually, I am a member of the so-called Special Department!”

If there is a department more mysterious than any other on the land of Huaxia, it must be the Special Department!

The chubby one and Hao Zhuang, both with wild imaginations, instantly conjured up scenes from countless spy films. Their eyes brimmed with admiration as they looked at Yan Yu.

“Boss, so you’re here on a secret mission, and you specially recruited us to be your assistants?” the chubby one asked.

Yan Yu nodded. With that question, the chubby one had just provided a perfect cover for him.

“That’s awesome!” Hao Zhuang exclaimed, excited. “I knew Boss wasn’t an ordinary person!”

Yan Yu asked, “Aren’t you angry that I brought you here?”

“Angry? Not at all! We’ve always dreamed of being heroes!” said the chubby one. “Boss, if we help you complete your task this time, can we join the Special Department too?”

“That depends on your performance.”

“So what’s our mission?” Hao Zhuang asked.

Yan Yu thought for a moment. “I can’t tell you too much right now. For now, just behave yourselves and, whatever you do, don’t get sent to Room Thirteen.”

“Understood!” Both the chubby one and Hao Zhuang already knew about the Internet Addiction Center and certainly didn’t dare risk entering Room Thirteen.

Hao Zhuang glanced at the occupied bed and muttered, “So there’s someone else in our dorm. Who could it be?”

“There are name tags at the head of each bed,” the chubby one said.

“Let me see… Feng Liang?”

As soon as he heard the name, Yan Yu went straight to the bedside.

So this was Feng Liang’s bed. Although he had died over a week ago, since no new students had come, his personal belongings hadn’t been collected.

Yan Yu rummaged through Feng Liang’s bedding. The chubby one protested, “Boss, this is someone else’s bed. Isn’t it wrong to go through his stuff?”

“The bed’s owner is already dead.”

Yan Yu’s words left both the chubby one and Hao Zhuang speechless.

Soon, Yan Yu found a photograph in Feng Liang’s bedding.

It was the same family portrait that Old Sheephead, the landlord, had given Yan Yu—a picture of Feng Liang and his parents.

The photo had been folded many times, covered in creases, and on the back, scrawled crookedly, was the word “Hatred.”

Seeing this, Yan Yu sighed softly. Indeed, Feng Liang had ample reason to resent his parents and his family.

What puzzled Yan Yu was that beneath that word, Feng Liang had drawn a symbol resembling a ram’s head.

“What could this symbol mean?” Yan Yu wondered.

This photo was clearly significant to Feng Liang. He had only brought himself to write the word “Hatred”—he wouldn’t have drawn a symbol at random.

Yan Yu had a hunch that discovering the meaning behind this symbol might yield something unexpected.

Just then, the instructor suddenly appeared outside the dorm. Yan Yu hurriedly tucked away the photo and lined up with his friends.

No one wanted to be electrocuted.

“Haven’t you finished organizing your things?” the instructor barked. “Fifty squats—now!”

Yan Yu frowned and gave his friends a look. The three of them obediently clasped their heads and began squatting.

Better to let this instructor show off for a while.

As they did their squats, the instructor beckoned someone from outside. A moment later, after some commotion, a boy about their age was dragged in by several parents.

“I don’t want to stay here! Mom, Dad, please let me go! I promise I won’t run away again!” the boy pleaded, struggling.

“We’re doing this for your own good, son. Your internet addiction isn’t cured yet. Uncle Yang says you need another six months of help!”

Seeing the boy being brought in, Hao Zhuang suddenly exclaimed in surprise, “Li… Li Zhixian?”
