Chapter 139: The Detestable Heavenly Tribulation (2)

Yan Yu was lying in bed when he suddenly felt a wave of panic.
“Oh no. The surge has come early…”
He knew the feeling all too well. It was the unmistakable sign that heavenly retribution had arrived after he used the Qilin Arm!
“Surely it can’t be this coincidental. I’m still at home, and heavenly retribution has already found me?” Yan Yu muttered to himself. “But I’m just lying in bed. I’m not doing anything or going outside, so I should be fine…”
The moment he finished speaking, the space beneath him suddenly vanished.
Then—
Bang!
Yan Yu’s bed collapsed without warning!
Whoosh—
The throwing needle hurled by the masked man outside skimmed past Yan Yu’s forehead and buried itself deep in the wall.
“Well? Is that brat dead?” One-Eyed Dragon asked.
The corner of the masked man’s eye twitched. “No… That brat got unbelievably lucky. His bed suddenly collapsed, and he dodged my needle!”
“Aren’t you supposed to never miss? Strike again before he notices!”
“Right!”
The masked man hurriedly drew another needle and began preparing his next attack.
“Ow, damn it!”
Yan Yu lay sprawled across the collapsed bed, one hand clutching his lower back as he struggled to stand.
“Talk about disaster striking while you’re sitting safely at home… You can’t even dodge it in bed?”
Looking at the wreckage, Yan Yu felt a deep pang of frustration. It seemed he would be sleeping on the sofa tonight.
“Yan Yu, what’s all that noise over there?” Su Han’s voice came from the next room.
“My bed suddenly collapsed,” Yan Yu replied.
“That’s what you get for eating so much! Now look what happened to the bed!”
“Why don’t you tell me to sleep in your bed for the night?”
Su Han roared, “I’m correcting exams for you little brats! I’m already annoyed enough without arguing with you!”
Yan Yu fell silent.
Teachers grading papers really were wild beasts in a state of utter fury.
“Forget it. I’ll sleep on the sofa in the living room.”
Yan Yu sighed, gathered his things, and headed toward the living room.
Seeing this, the masked man hanging outside quickly shifted position and moved to the balcony outside the living room.
“You little brat. Let’s see if you survive this!”
The masked man threw another needle.

Sllluuurp—
Wearing nothing but a pair of oversized shorts and walking barefoot across the living-room floor, Yan Yu accidentally stepped on Big Black’s toy. His feet shot out from under him, and he crashed onto his back with all four limbs in the air.
The needle missed once again!
“My poor back…”
Yan Yu was practically on the verge of tears. It seemed there was no chance of getting a good night’s sleep.
“Yan Yu!”
Crash!
Su Han suddenly kicked open the bedroom door and stormed out, waving a crumpled exam paper in his face.
“Did you write this?”
Yan Yu took a closer look. Sure enough, his own name was written on the paper.
“Of course I did. What about it?”
“Look at the essay question! What on earth did you write? You left the entire thing blank and wrote, ‘Thank you for your hard work, teacher’! What is that supposed to mean?” Su Han was nearly hysterical.
Yan Yu smiled. “I was just showing some consideration for the teachers who have to grade these papers…”
“I need the class average to go up!” Su Han shouted furiously. “Go stand on the balcony and reflect on your behavior!”
“Ah?”
“Now!”
“Oh…”
Holding his aching back, Yan Yu trudged gloomily out onto the balcony.
The masked man hurriedly shifted position again.
Yan Yu nervously glanced at the balcony’s security grille. Only after confirming that it was extremely sturdy did he finally relax.
Given the rhythm of this heavenly retribution, would he fall straight off the balcony just by moving around out here?
This was the eleventh floor, after all…
Su Han was so furious her teeth hurt. Even Big Black lay flat on the floor, too frightened to make a sound, staring at Yan Yu sympathetically.
“What are you looking at? Never seen domestic violence before?” Yan Yu glared at Big Black.
Lying back on the balcony recliner, Yan Yu no longer had the energy to study the Ghost Soul Curse. Bored, he suddenly noticed the camera hanging on the wall.
It was the one Zhang Qi had left behind.
“Come to think of it, does this camera still work?”
Yan Yu took it down and began fiddling with it.
Behind him, the masked man slowly descended. Three silver needles rested in his hand, and murderous intent flickered in his eyes.
“Brat, at this distance, three needles at once. I refuse to believe you’ll survive!”
The masked man steeled himself and was about to throw them when—
“Oh, it still works! I’ll take a selfie first!”
Yan Yu turned the lens toward himself, raised two fingers in a victory sign, and pressed the shutter.

Click—
The flash went off, blinding the masked man just as he was about to strike. His hand jerked, sending the needles flying wildly. One of them even ricocheted back and shot straight into his thigh!
“Argh!”
The masked man let out an involuntary scream. Afraid of being discovered, he quickly lowered the rope and hid beneath Yan Yu’s balcony.
“Who’s there?!”
Yan Yu jumped and hurriedly turned around. In doing so, he accidentally bumped into a flowerpot sitting on the balcony railing.
The flowerpot fell straight down.
With a loud crash, it landed on the masked man’s head, smashing it open and sending blood everywhere.
“Third Brother? Third Brother? What happened to you?!” One-Eyed Dragon shouted anxiously through the earpiece.
“That… that brat… is cursed!”
The masked man cried out in utter misery before passing out.
Yan Yu noticed the man hanging beneath his balcony and said, “It can’t be this bad, can it? I casually knocked over a flowerpot and hit a window cleaner?”
“Yan Yu, are you going to sleep or not?!”
Su Han charged out of the bedroom again.
Yan Yu quickly explained, “I used the Qilin Arm a couple of days ago, and heavenly retribution has arrived. I think I accidentally hit one of the workers…”
“What?”
Su Han was startled. She hurried to the balcony and looked down.
“Get him to the hospital right away. Pay whatever compensation is necessary. That should count as spending money to avert disaster, right?”
Yan Yu thought she had a point. He immediately called an ambulance, had the man brought down from the balcony, and sent him to the hospital.
The masked man woke up in the ambulance. When he saw Yan Yu sitting beside him, he was so terrified that his soul nearly fled his body.
Yan Yu, however, spoke first.
“Brother, you’ve had it rough. Hanging outside in the middle of the night to clean windows… This was all my fault. How much compensation do you want? I’ll pay you.”
The masked man was close to tears. “Buddy, I don’t want your money. Just go. I can get to the hospital by myself.”
“No. I absolutely have to compensate you!”
“I don’t want it. I really don’t want your money…”
The masked man, who had been driven to tears by Yan Yu, now understood that Yan Yu was a genuine jinx. All he wanted was to get as far away from him as possible.
Suddenly, the ambulance driver sneezed and accidentally drove the vehicle straight into the roadside greenery!
After everyone crawled out of the ambulance, they found that the vehicle had been badly mangled. Yet somehow, not one of them had even suffered a scratch.
Except—
The masked man had been flung from the vehicle, and both his hands had suffered crushing fractures.
“Cursed… This brat really is cursed…”
The masked man lay helplessly in the greenery. If Heaven gave him another chance, he swore he would never come assassinate this jinx again, even if it killed him.
Yan Yu glanced at the map. The hospital was still a long way off, and he had no idea when this heavenly retribution would finally end.
